Yesterday for day 13 we took a look at a legendary quarterback from the University of Pittsburgh. Now today for day 12 we’ll take a look at a rugged quarterback from Stanford University.
Andrew Luck was born in Washington, D.C. but played high school ball at Stratford High School in Houston, Texas. He elected to play at Stanford for Coach Harbaugh over Northwestern, Purdue, and Oklahoma State.
As a freshman in 2008, Luck redshirted and in 2009, Luck earned the starting job over Tavita Pritchard. He passed for twenty five hundred yards and thirteen touchdowns while also rushing for two touchdowns.
Luck injured a finger on his throwing hand in Stanfords final game in 2009 against Notre Dame. He had surgery on it and missed the Cardinals Sun Bowl game against the Oklahoma Sooners.
In 2010, Luck returned and emerged as one of the top players in the nation. He threw for thirty three hundred yards with thirty two touchdowns and rushed for four hundred and fifty yards and three touchdowns.
For his efforts, Luck was named First Team Pac-12, First Team All American, Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year, and was a Heisman Trophy finalist.
The following season in 2011, Luck had an awesome year. He passed for thirty five hundred yards and thirty seven touchdowns. He also carried the rock forty seven times for one hundred and fifty yards with two touchdowns.
Lucks play earned him First Team Pac-12, First Team All American, Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year, and was a Heisman Trophy finalist all for the second time. He also won Maxwell Award, Unitas Award, and was named to the Walter Camp team.
He was selected first overall by the Colts in the 2012 NFL Draft. Sadly, Luck retired right before the 2019 season.
Tomorrow for day 11, we’ll be looking at one of the best Penn State linebackers to ever play at State College.
