Yesterday for day 13, I highlighted my Heisman trophy dark horse from North Carolina State. Now today for day 12, I’ll be covering one of my favorite college players of all time from Notre Dame.
Ian Book was a 3 star quarterback recruit from Oak Ridge High School in El Dorado Hills, California. He picked up offers from Harvard, Boise State, and San Diego State and originally committed to Washington State. He later flipped to Notre Dame. In 2017, Book redshirted and in 2018 he saw limited action and passed for 456 yards with 4 touchdowns.
In 2019, Book started and passed for 2,628 yards and 19 touchdowns while also rushing for 280 yards and 4 scores. The following season in 2020 when Notre Dame joined the ACC, Book was Third Team All ACC after passing for 3,034 yards and 34 touchdowns and rushing for 4 touchdowns and 546 yards. In Books final season, he threw for 2,830 yards and 15 touchdowns and rushed for 485 yards and 9 touchdowns.
Book has the most wins in program history as a starting QB with 30 and is second in passing touchdowns with 72. The New Orleans Saints selected Book in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
