2021 NFL Draft Big Board: Football Guys
Here are my top ten Football Guy prospects of the 2021 NFL Draft.
You maybe wondering, what is a “Football Guy”? Well, a Football Guy is a player that is tough as nails, is an absolute character, is usually a UNIT, and has a great story. These ten guys on my list are the top Football Guys in this years NFL Draft.
10. Deonte Brown, Offensive Line Alabama: Honestly, Brown makes this list because he is a UNIT! He is 6’4, 350 pounds of pure running blocking fury. Brown will go anywhere from the end of the first round to the beginning of the third and whoever lands him gets a true Football Guy.
Brown is a first team All Sec offensive lineman and a two time National Champion. Those two accolades are great but, the best thing Brown has done is wear a neck roll. True Football Guy move.
9. Zach Davidson, Tight End Central Missouri: In true Football Guy form, Zach Davidson was a duel positioned player at Central Missouri. The 6’7 All American was a tight end and punter in college. In 2019, he recorded 5 touchbacks and caught 15 touchdowns for 894 yards.
Now, here is why I think Davidson could be an elite player. He played at Central Missouri in college, the same college as NFL tight end Delanie Walker. Playing division two and going to the league is an ultimate Football Guy move.
8. Tyler Shelvin, Defensive Tackle LSU: I couldn’t put Brown on here and leave off another UNIT from the SEC. Tyler Shelvin is a house. Shelvin is 6’3, 350 pounds and is a force in the run game. He’ll get drafted in the second or third this year and can make an immediate impact for whoever he plays for.
7. Landon Dickerson, Offensive Line Alabama: Dickerson, the second Alabama offensive lineman on this list, is a Football Guy because he can take over a locker room and was born to lead. Dickerson transferred from Florida State to Alabama as a grad transfer and was named a captain.
The Crimson Tide center suffered a knee injury in the SEC Championship and was out for the College Football Playoff. He suited up for the National Championship and went out as the lone captain for Alabama. He even came in for the final center quarterback exchange. He was even named a captain for the Senior Bowl.
6. Tuf Borland, Linebacker Ohio State: Not too much explaining to be done here. His name is “Tuf”. That’s just pure Football Guy energy. Props to Tuf’s parents for giving us a hard nosed Football Guy.
5. Tory Carter, Fullback LSU: About 95% of every fullback ever is a Football Guy and Tory Carter is a true Football Guy. Carter is a hybrid that can move from fullback to tight end, making him a big time weapon for any NFL team.
Another reason that Carter is a Football Guy is because he rocks number 44. 44 in my opinion is the greatest football number ever. He also covers his face in eye black, making him way more intimidating when he’s barreling down on you to lay a block.
4. Tommy Tremble, Tight End Notre Dame: Tremble maybe listed as a tight end but at heart, he’s a fullback. I watched every Notre Dame game this year and Tremble is never afraid to throw a block on a linebacker, safety, or defensive end. He could become the leagues next Kyle Juszczyk with a true Football Guy mentality.
3. Liam Eichenberg, Offensive Line Notre Dame: Eichenberg had a top Football Guy moment this past season when he got poked in the eye and continued to play. His eye was swollen shut and still was getting after it.
Eichenberg is a mauler in the trenches that anchored the Irish offensive line this past season. He’ll make whoever drafts him very happy with his play.
2. Quinn Meinerz, Offensive Line Wisconsin-Whitewater: Is Quinn Meinerz even real? He is representing every division three player that has a diet consisting of dining hall chicken tenders and Busch Light, a true Football Guy.
Meinerz rocks a neck roll paired with dread locks and has an absolute power belly. His draft stock has shot through the roof since the Senior Bowl. He ran a 4.95 40 yard dash weighing in at 320 pounds. You could argue for Meinerz to be number one but, the guy at one is an all around Football Guy.
1. Ben Mason, Fullback Michigan: If you Googled “jack of all trades” and “Football Guy” then you would find Ben Masons photo. A CT native that has played fullback, halfback, tight end, and defensive tackle at Michigan deserves the number one spot.
Outside of his tough play, Mason sports an unreal mohawk, that I hope he is bringing to the league, and a neck roll. Now, you may think that he’s just a run blocker but, two years ago against Maryland, he hurdled a safety and picked up 15 yards. AN ABSOLUTE FOOTBALL GUY!
