Yesterday we took a look at a running back that tore it up in Georgia. Now today for day 23, we’ll be highlighting the guy that I think will be the top running back in the 2021-2022 college football season.
Kyren Williams grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and attended St. John Vianney High School in Kirkwood, Missouri. At St. John Vianney High, Williams was named the St. Louis Metro Area Offensive Player of the Year as a senior.
Williams was a three star recruit out of Missouri and was courted by Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Stanford, and Notre Dame where he ultimately decided to play.
Kyren Williams enrolled early at Notre Dame in January of 2019. As a freshman in 2019, Williams saw time in four games against Louisville, New Mexico, Georgia and Virginia where he rushed for twenty six yards and had one catch.
This past season was Williams breakout season and was a key component in the Irish making the college football playoffs. He tallied just north of eleven hundred rushing yards with thirteen touchdowns and had three hundred and thirteen receiving yards with one touchdown.
Williams was named ACC Rookie of the Year, ACC Offensive Rookie of the Year, and was second team All ACC Offense.
The Missouri native will have at least one more season in South Bend and I think that he’ll have an even better year than he did prior making him the nations number one back.
Tomorrow we’ll be taking a look at a quarterback that had one of the most famous plays in collegiate history.
