#29. Baby Driver (2017)
At number 29 on the list of my 100 Favorite Films of All Time is the 2017 action film, Baby Driver. Baby Driver was directed by Edgar Wright and stars Ansel Elgort and Kevin Spacey with supporting performances from Lily James, Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx, CJ Jones, Jon Bernthal, and Eiza Gonzalez.
The opening scene of Baby Driver is so awesome. You see a crew of skilled thieves enter a bank while a young man sits in the drivers seat of the getaway car while he jams out to Bellbottoms by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. The ensuing chase scene showcases tension coupled with great driving and loud music. I noted earlier how Dazed and Confused has a my second favorite soundtrack of all time; Baby Driver has my favorite. Edgar Wright properly places Brighton Rock by Queen, Debra by Beck, and Know How by Young MC perfectly in the film.
I liked the layers of the film how Ansel Elgorts character is this badass getaway driver who has a need to listen to music, but also takes care of his grandfather. Kevin Spaceys character is a lot like his character in 21 where he uses and manipulates the people he has working for him. Baby Driver is one of the five best action movies of the 2010s.
