Yesterday for the 30’s, we capped it off with an electric running back from Canada. Today for day 29, we’ll be taking a look at a defensive back that made jaw dropping plays down in Tuscaloosa.
Minkah Fitzpatrick was born in Old Bridge, New Jersey and attended Saint Peters Prep School in Jersey City, New Jersey. He was a huge recruit and was listed as a five star prospect out of high school.
Fitzpatrick signed to Alabama in 2015 after verbally committing to Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide a year prior. That was the start to his great Alabama career.
As a freshman, Fitzpatrick started in ten of his fourteen appearances for the Crimson Tide. In those games, he recorded forty five tackles, two interceptions, and two sacks. He was a freshman All American and was instrumental in Alabamas National Title win.
As a sophomore, Fitzpatrick balled out and had an unreal year. He racked up six picks, two touchdowns, sixty six tackles, and one and a half sacks.
Fitzpatrick’s efforts earned him a spot as an All American and First Team All SEC.
Minkah’s junior season, his last in Tuscaloosa, led to another National Title win. Fitzpatrick tallied sixty tackles, one and a half sacks, and 1 interception. He was named First Team All SEC, All American, won the Jim Thorpe Award, and the Bednarik Award.
Fitzpatrick left Bama after three seasons to enter the NFL Draft. He was taken eleventh overall in the 2018 draft by the Dolphins.
Tomorrow for day 28, we’ll be highlighting one of my favorite players of all time at the professional level.
