Guess what, we’re only 67 days away until we get to watch college football. It’s electric! For today, the theme of recent linemen continues, this time with a center from the Steel City that just found a new home.
Jimmy Morrissey was lightly recruited out of La Salle High School and held offers from Lehigh, Bucknell, and Colgate. He ultimately decided to stay in the state of Pennsylvania and accept a preferred walk on offer at the University of Pittsburgh.
In his freshman year, Morrissey redshirted and then as he was headed into his redshirt freshman year was awarded a scholarship and named the Panthers starting center. The next few seasons, Morrissey held down Pittsburghs offensive line and started just about every game, the only ones he missed were due to injury.
Over his career as a Panther pass blocker, he was named All ACC three times and in 2020 was named the Burlsworth Trophy winner for the nations best walk on. This past spring, Morrissey was taken in the seventh round by the Las Vegas Raiders.
Tomorrow, the trend of recent players breaks up with an undersized tackle that played college ball in Charlottesville, Virginia.
