Yesterday for day 69 (nice), I covered a small school offensive lineman that was drafted in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Today for day 68, I’ll be highlighting an offensive guard that played for the Vols.
Cade Mays was a 4 star recruit coming out of Knoxville Catholic High School in Knoxville, Tennessee. He garnered a lot of interest and held offers from Tennessee, Notre Dame, and Alabama, but committed to Georgia. As a true freshman, Mays earned significant play time and earned All SEC Freshman team and Freshman All American honors.
With the Bulldogs as a sophomore, Mays played in all 14 games and started 11. For the 2020 season, Mays came back to Tennessee, transferring to the Vols and was granted immediate eligibility. In his final season with Tennessee in 2021, Mays was named Phil Steele All SEC Third Team and Coaches All SEC Second Team.
He received an invite to the Senior Bowl and was drafted in the 6th round of the NFL Draft by the Panthers.
