Yesterday for day 79, I highlighted an All ACC offensive lineman that currently plays for the Cincinnati Bengals. Today for day 78, I’ll be covering an offensive lineman that was just drafted by the Ravens.
Daniel Faalele is a 6’9, 380 pound left tackle that hails from Melbourne, Australia. As a youth, he played primarily rugby and basketball, but when a member of the University of Hawaii football team found him on a scouting trip, Faalele transitioned to football.
Faalele was recruited and moved to the U.S. to play high school football at IMG Academy. After learning the game very quickly, Faalele began to pick up offers; he held offers from Alabama, LSU, and Michigan, but committed to play at Minnesota.
The Aussie suited up with the Golden Gophers from 2018-2021 seeing action immediately as a freshman starting 8 of the 10 games he played in. Over his four years, Faalele dominated defensive ends and even earned First Team All Big Ten in 2021. In his final career game in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl (which I was at) he actually ran in a touchdown against West Virginia.
In the 2022 NFL Draft, Faalele was selected in the 4th round by the Baltimore Ravens. Tomorrow for day 77, we’ll be highlighting another offensive lineman drafted in the 2022 NFL Draft.
