We’ve made it to the end of the 80’s. LETS GO! For day 80, I’ll be highlighting a big tight end that had a borderline Hall of Fame NFL career and was solid at his alma mater.
Todd Heap is the Ravens all time leader in touchdown catches and second all time in yards and receptions. Before that, Heap made his name known down in Tempe, Arizona.
Heap played three years at Arizona State University and found his way on the field as a freshman. In his first season as a Sun Devil he recorded 12 catches for 209 yards and 3 touchdowns through eleven games.
The next two seasons Heap turned into a starter and his numbers skyrocketed. Through 24 games in the PAC-10 in his sophomore and junior year he reeled in 103 balls that went for 1,467 yards and 7 touchdowns.
His efforts in his final two seasons turned him into a first round selection in 2001. He ended up making one All Pro team and two Pro Bowls for the Ravens. At the end of his career he returned back to Arizona to play for the Cardinals in 2011 to 2012.
Tomorrow we get right into my area of comfort, offensive linemen. Guys that maul people in the trenches.
