Yesterday for day 81, I highlighted a tight end that helped propel LSU to a National Title. Now today for day 80 I’ll be covering a former Boston College tight end that made multiple All ACC teams.
Exeter, New Hampshire native Hunter Long wasn’t a highly touted recruit coming out of Deerfield Academy. He held offers from UConn, UMass, and Rhode Island, but accepted a full ride to play at Boston College.
Long redshirted for the 2017 season, and then in 2018 saw limited time. He caught 4 passes for 103 yards and 2 touchdowns. In 2019 he saw an increased roll in the Eagles offense making 28 grabs for 509 yards and 2 scores. His performance earned him All ACC Third Team honors.
In his final season in maroon and gold, Long became the Eagles primary option on offense. He made 57 catches for 685 yards and 5 scores. He was also named All ACC First Team. Long was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Dolphins and as a rookie only recorded 1 catch.
Tomorrow, we break into the 70’s.
