#90. Dirty Work (1998)
Rounding up the 90s is the 1998 American buddy black comedy, Dirty Work. Dirty Work was directed by Bob Saget (RIP) and stars Norm McDonald (RIP) and Artie Lange with supporting roles from Chevy Chase, Chris Farley (RIP), and Don Rickles (RIP). Kind of sad to think about.
Dirty Work is truly one of the funniest, under the radar flicks of all time because it’s a cast that’s loaded with friends so the chemistry is never taken into question. Artie Lange and Norm McDonald are essentially dead beat losers who don’t have jobs, but they’re good at one thing. They’re good at doing dirty work. They open up a business and people hire them to prank or sabotage a persons enemy. One of the best pranks in this movie is the dead hookers in the car. When a car dealership opens and the douchey manager is presenting, Norm and Artie pop the trunks on his pristine cars to reveal prostitutes playing dead. Pure hilarity.
This film actually includes one of the five funniest scenes I’ve ever witnessed. When Artie and Norm decide to work at a movie theater, their manager is the legendary roast master Don Rickles. Rickles just shits out on the two of them for three minutes and nothing really comes of the scene. It’s totally random, but Saget utilized the greatest insult comedian of all time, who was also filming Casino at this time, to do what he does best.
