Pass rushers and place kickers have been a theme of the 90’s so here at 92, don’t expect anything different. The single player we’ll be highlighting for 92 is one of the most dominant college and professional pass rushers to ever walk the planet.
Reggie White, a.k.a the Minister of Defense was a menace for any SEC offense that he squared off against. In his freshman season he worked his way up to the starting lineup where he totaled 51 tackles, 2 sacks, and a blocked punt.
That same season he was given the "Andy Spiva Award" which goes to the most improved defensive player on the Volunteers roster.
In his next three seasons in Knoxville, he totaled 30 sacks, 15 of them coming in his senior campaign. He also racked up 100 tackles in his senior year which is a wild stat for a defensive lineman. Just shows how dominant White was.
Through his career, the minister won SEC Player of the Year in 1983, Bart Starr Award, First Team SEC, Unanimous All American, and even has his number 92 retired in Tennessee.
Our run on pass rushers is coming to an end when we get to 91 days left and we’ll be getting into elite pass catchers very soon.
