Today we move one day closer. So far this list has been a blast to do because I get to look at college greats, forgotten stars, and guys that I loved watching play and today, one of the players is one of the greatest college defenders.
Number 93 has great representation along the defensive line from Gerald McCoy to Aundray Bruce but Ndamukong Suh was on a different level.
At Nebraska, Suh dominated game in and game out and made life difficult for offensive coordinators and interior offensive linemen.
In Suhs elite senior season he racked up 85 tackles, 12 sacks, and 1 interception. To go with his insane stat line, he won a plethora of awards including the Outland Trophy, Lombardi Award, Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Bednarik Award, AP Player of the Year, BIG Ten Defensive Player of the Year, and was a Heisman Finalist.
There is a legit argument to be made that Suh is the best college defender of the past 20 years.
The next player is another guy I met at the Walter Camp banquet. While he does wear number 93, he doesn’t stuff the run or rush the passer.
Max Duffy is a 28 year old NFL punter and is less than two years removed from the college game. The Aussie punter spent 2013-2017 in the Australian Football league and the Western Australian Football league before retiring to become an American football player.
He joined the Kentucky Wildcats where he became an instant stud. In 2019 he was named First Team All SEC, Unanimous All American, and won the Ray Guy Award and in 2020 was Second Team All SEC.
On April 15th, the Toronto Argonauts drafted him in the fourth round of the CFL Global Draft and this past week signed with the Denver Broncos.
Tomorrow just means we move closer to watching the purest form of football and I can barely hold in my excitement in.
