We’re still in the 90’s so that means pass rushers. The number 94 has two guys that had a knack for getting after the quarterback. One is in the NFL now, the other has made a career out of acting and professional wrestling.
The first defender we’ll highlight is A.J. Epenesa. Epenesa played from 2017 to 2019 at the University of Iowa where he made life hell for BIG Ten offensive linemen.
Epenesa saw significant time on the defensive line his freshman year in Iowa City and never looked back. In his freshman year he racked up 4.5 sacks and 1 forced fumble. His sophomore and junior year he turned it up and tallied 22 sacks and 86 tackles through those two seasons.
He was a projected first rounder in 2020 but slipped to round two due to poor combine testing. He recorded his first sack and only sack of his rookie season against the Rams.
The next stud that wore 94 at the college ranks was Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at the University of Miami.
Johnson was an undersized, back up defensive tackle on the Hurricanes squad that was super dominant. He only started one game of his four year career and backed up a guy that goes by the name Warren Sapp.
He went from having a .7 GPA to being named an academic captain on the Miami football team and graduated from the U with a Bachelor of General Studies in criminology and physiology. He later signed with Calgary in the CFL as a linebacker and was later cut.
Much like Roman Reigns, pro football never worked out, wrestling turned Dwayne Johnson into a star. He turned to acting and is one of the biggest stars in the world now.
Everyday we inch closer and closer to college football and with day 93 tomorrow, we are still in the realm of pass rushers and possibly kickers and punters.
