We are still in pass rusher numbers and today, being 95 days out from the college football season, we have a guy I watched a lot of last season for the Irish. A big and physical run stopper that has a knack for getting after the quarterback.
Today, we’re highlighting Notre Dame defensive tackle Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa. Tagovailoa-Amosa just recently graduated from Notre Dame but will be playing one more season in South Bend as a graduate student.
The Ewa Beach native has been seeing time on the field since his freshman season when he played in all eleven games for the Irish. His sophomore season he was only able to compete in two games due to a broken foot that kept him out the remainder of the 2018 season.
2019, Tagovailoa-Amosas junior year was when he really broke out. He started twelve of the thirteen games and recorded 22 tackles, 2.5 for loss, half a sack, and a fumble recovery. That same season he was a Piesman Finalist for his fumble recovery against Virginia.
This past season Myron has continued to progress as a defender. He was named to the Phil Steele Preseason All-Independent First Team and was named ACC Second Team Defense for his work in the trenches.
He was able to tally 17 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and 2 fumble recoveries. His best game came against Syracuse when he had 3 tackles, 1 sack, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.
I can’t wait to watch Tagovailoa-Amosa ball out next year for the golden domers. Tomorrow we move just a day closer and stay on the theme of pass rushers and run stuffers.
