Yesterday and today have been wild, just pure insanity. The MLB and NBA hit peek madness as just about everyones favorite teams got into the mix whether they were dealing a player, bringing a star in, or were burning their franchise to the floor.
In the NBA, LeBron James decided that having Anthony Davis wasn’t good enough so the Lakers went out and traded for Buddy Hield, or so we all thought.
Around 5:30 p.m. when I was out to dinner, I got the Bleacher Report alert saying that the Oklahoma alum had been dealt from Sacramento to the Lakers. The trade was supposed to include Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, and a few other pieces. Well, that fell a part when Russell Westbrook came into the mix.
The Lakers essentially pulled the rug out from under the Kings and dealt Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and the twenty second overall pick in exchange for Russell Westbrook and two second round picks in 2024 and 2028.
Keep building super teams LeBron. Westbrook better hope he plays good or LeBron will ship him out to Detroit or Orlando.
While that trade took up the majority of the news, the Brooklyn Nets made a deal that sent guard Landry Shamet to the NBA runner up Phoenix Suns in exchange for guard Jevon Carter and the twenty ninth pick. That pick turned into North Carolina center Day’Ron Sharpe.
Now as I write this, my Celtics have just made a deal. They shipped veteran forward/ center Tristan Thompson to Sacramento as a piece of a three team trade involving the Kings, Hawks, and Celtics.
The Hawks bring in Delon Wright from the Kings, the Celtics add center Bruno Fernando, guard Kris Dunn, and a 2023 second round selection from Atlanta, and the Kings land Tristan Thompson
The final NBA trade that caught my eye was Ricky Rubio being shipped out off Minnesota prior to the NBA Draft. He got shipped to one of Americas most beautiful cities, Cleveland.
The Timberwolves moved Rubio after his second stint in Minnesota for forward Taurean Prince, a 2022 second round pick, and cash considerations. Rubio will make a solid impact on the Cavaliers as a backup for Collin Sexton.
I would add the MLB trades to this article but man, there are a shit ton to cover so check out the next blog.
