Cheese heads rejoice as your king won the MVP. Now Green Bay fans can brag about this until the start of next season when they start telling us they’re “going to win it all”. Packers fans, Saints fans, and Cowboys fans are all kind of the same because, the start of every year they’re adamant that this year is their year but, can never close. Only difference is the Saints and Packers have won a Super Bowl more recently than Dallas who won their last one was in 1996. In ‘96, Tom Brady was probably buying Busch Light with a fake id and Patrick Mahomes was still in diapers.
Okay, okay, I know I got a little off topic but, Rodgers was the clear cut MVP this year. If the MVP was given out week 6 then Russel Wilson would have ran away with it but, thats not the case. Rodgers threw for 4,299 yards and 48 touchdowns while only throwing 5 interceptions with a pretty depleted receiving core. Adams was out a few games this season and his next best weapon was a practice squad tight end, Robert Tonyan, who should have made the Pro Bowl.
Rodgers elevated everyone around him and maybe, just maybe if David Bakhtiari played against the Bucs, the Packers would be getting ready to play against the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. JPP and Shaq Barrett made life hell for Rodgers and they still only lost by 5. I mean if they had a competent head coach they could have won but, who knows?
This was one of the few awards from tonight I thoroughly agreed with. Now, the only thing separating Rodgers and his “mentor” Brett Favre is another Super Bowl victory. Well that and the 336 interceptions Favre threw. Rodgers may stack up the MVP’s but, he still is chasing that second ring.
