A.J. Ferrari Wins His First Of Many Big 12 Titles
The Oklahoma State freshman beat Stephen Buchanan to take home the Big 12 Title.
The best match of the day between the Big 10 and Big 12 tournaments came around 8:45 p.m tonight when Oklahoma State freshman A.J. Ferrari stepped on the mat in Tulsa. Ferrari beat Wyoming sophomore Stephen Buchanan 13-8 n the 197 pound final.
Ferrari brought the fireworks for this bout because he needed to win by decision to tie the Oklahoma Sooners for the team title and win with bonus points to win the Big 12 title outright for the Cowboys.
By only winning by 5, the Sooners of Norman, Oklahoma and the Cowboys from Stillwater, Oklahoma had to stand atop the podium together. Can’t imagine it was to friendly at the trophy ceremony for these bitter rivals.
Buchanan and Ferrari gave us a very entertaining seven minutes of wrestling as Ferrari put Buchanan to his back twice but wasn’t awarded back points. The two wrestlers were tremendous from their feet and Ferrari proved how much of a hammer he is on top.
If I’m a wrestler in the 197 weight class, I would not want to come across A.J. Ferrari. He is heating up and could make a run at a National Title in a few weeks.
