Today was game day back in my home state of CT and the Bucs went out and pulled off an upset over Western Connecticut State, so with that being said, we’re looking at an upbeat anthem song.
The Killers make their first appearance on the Alt Rock Autumn countdown with their hit song Mr. Brightside which is played at just about every college party there has ever been.
Mr. Brightside is the second song off of The Killers 2004 album Hot Fuss. It’s not even a question or debate, Mr. Brightside is the BIGGEST song off the album and probably the biggest from the band.
The highest that Mr. Brightside ever charted from 2004 to 2021 was number one on the UK Indie chart. It also reached number four on the U.S. Dance Club Songs chart, number five on the Canada Rock Top 30, and third on U.S. Alternative Airplay.
It was also twelve time platinum in Australia, six time platinum in the UK, and two time platinum in America.
Really there isn’t much to say about the song other than it is a banger. The Killers use heavy guitar and a heavy backup drum that couples beautifully with the catchy lyrics.
“BUT IT’S JUST THE PRICE I PAY!”
I really don’t understand why or how it has made such a large comeback and become a party anthem, but I’m not complaining. It can revive a party and get everyone jumping and singing along.
Whenever I hear Mr. Brightside, I can just smell cheap vodka mixed with sweat in a college house basement. And that my friends, smells like autumn on a college campus.
