After missing the past six weeks due to an elbow injury that required surgery, James Bouknight made his presence felt tonight against the Friars. He went for 18 points to go with 2 assists and 4 rebounds in the Huskies 73-61 win.
Much like Slim Shady, Bouknight let us know he was back as his leadership was on display on the court to aid the Huskies who had lost to Providence last Wednesday by 11. Uconn was in the midst of a shaky past few games going 2-4 in their last six contests prior to tonight. What hurt about the last few losses was that they were all too Big East opponents.
The Huskies currently sit fourth in the Big East with a 7-5 conference record and a 10-5 overall record. They find themselves behind Villanova, Creighton, and Seton Hall and right above Xavier. Now with their star guard Bouknight back in the lineup, Uconn can make a push to contend for a Big East championship and a deep NCAA tournament run.
This Coach Hurley led squad has the juice and energy around them that the past few championship Husky squads had and as a Uconn fan, I could not be more excited to witness this team play.
