CT Native And Wake Forest Captain Rondell Bothroyd Has Entered The Transfer Portal
Someone's going to get a good defensive lineman.
The transfer portal has been pretty crazy this season with big name quarterbacks jumping ship and lots of programs losing cornerstone players. Another name has recently jumped into the portal as Wake Forest defensive lineman Rondell Bothroyd announced via Twitter that he’d be using his final year of eligibility to transfer.
Bothroyd is from Manchester, CT, but attended E.O. Smith High School in Mansfield, CT. He originally committed to Temple after picking up offers from Temple, UConn, and Boston College. He later decommitted and committed to play for the Demon Deacons at Wake Forest.
The past two seasons, Bothroyd has been a staple on the Wake Forest defensive line. In 2021, he tallied 63 tackles, 16.5 TFLs, 8 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles. He was named a team captain for the 2022 season and totaled 30 tackles, 8 TFLs, 6 sacks, and 3 pass breakups. Whoever wins the Rondell lottery, gets one hell of a player that is a game changer on the defensive line.
