Debarber Wins LL's
Enfield High senior Ryan Debarber wins the LL State Championship in javelin.
Yesterday was a HUGE day for Enfield High athletics as senior Ryan Debarber won the LL State Championship in the boys javelin throw.
Ryan entered the meet in New Britain, CT at Veterans Stadium as one of the states top javelin throwers and today he reassured his spot near the top. With a throw of 183 feet, he took home the LL title. Not only did he take home the title, he steamrolled the rest of his competition, the next closest throw coming from Southington junior Jack Freyler at 147 feet and 11 inches.
While Debarber has the LL title, he has some stiff competition for the the State Opens. In class L, Middletown senior Trevor Drescher threw 184 feet and 10 inches. We are in for some fireworks come the Opens.
With Debarber’s massive heave yesterday, he qualified for Nationals that will take place this summer in Eugene, Oregon at Hayward Field, which is one of Americas most historic sites for track and field.
Ryan is planning to walk on to the University of North Carolina Wilmington track and field team next year to throw javelin for the Seahawks. Congratulations Ryan, now go out and win an Open Championship!
