Former Pro Bowl Receiver Passes Away
Ex-Buccaneers and Chargers receiver, Vincent Jackson passes at 38.
It’s a sad day for NFL fans. Former Buccaneers and Chargers wide receiver, Vincent Jackson died today at 38. Jackson was a guy I grew up watching so, hearing this news was pretty heart breaking. He was found deceased at the Homewood Suites in Brandon, Florida at 11:30 a.m today.
Jackson was a second round pick in 2005 out of Northern Colorado. He spent 2005-2011 as a member of the San Diego Chargers and then from 2012-2016 as a Tampa Bay Buccaneer. He was selected to play in the Pro Bowl three times in his career and recorded 540 catches for 9,080 yards, and 57 touchdowns. From 2011-2014 he recorded 1,000 plus receiving yards in those four seasons.
The disheartening aspect of Vincent Jackson’s death is that he was staying in the Homewood Suites since January 11, 2021. On February 10th, he was reported missing by his family and was located by the Hillsborough Sheriff on the 12th. After he was assessed by the sheriff, the missing persons case was canceled. This morning, Jackson was found dead by a housekeeper. There was apparently no signs of trauma.
As an NFL fan, this is tough news to hear. It definitely stings a little bit more because, Jackson was a player that I grew up watching at the time that I was getting into football. Rest In Peace Vincent Jackson.
