Hammer St. Peters Tonight, There's NO WAY They Lose On National Peacock Day
Putting my tuition on St. Peters tonight vs. Purdue.
Is it meant to be? I mean it feels meant to be that on National Peacock Day the St. Peters Peacocks, a Cinderella 15 seed, will beat 3 seeded Purdue to advance to the Elite Eight.
Every year a low seeded team in the tournament wins over the hearts of basketball fans; whether it was Loyola Chicago making the Final Four in 2018 as an 11 seed or when the 2013 Dunk City Florida Gulf Coast team made the Sweet Sixteen as a 15 seed. Now we're witnessing the newest American sweetheart team in the St. Peters Peacocks.
Coming into the tournament, I believed that Kentucky would make a deep run and possibly make the Final Four behind Oscar Tshiebwe and Kellan Grady. I was wrong. Along came a small private college from Jersey City to ruin the bracket of millions of Americans while simultaneously making these disgruntled fans love them. I love a good underdog story, but I completely wrote off St. Peters and so did the vast majority of people who filled out a bracket. 6.01% of people had Kentucky winning the National Title and only 3.04% had St. Peters beating the Wildcats.
St. Peters defeated Coach Calipari and Kentucky 85-79 behind the efforts of Daryl Banks III and Doug Edert who combined for 47 points and 8 rebounds.
The Kentucky game felt like a fluke. Really a one in a million win for a program that just barely slipped into the tournament. I was wrong again. They proceeded to beat 7 seeded Murray State 70-60 as Doug Edert and KC Ndefo combined to drop 30. Now tonight the nation is taking notice of the rising Peacocks as they get ready to take on Purdue who went 29-7 this season.
With the whole nation behind this small school from New Jersey, one big factor comes into play that works in the favor of the Peacocks. Today March 25th, is National Peacock Day. It feels like the stars are aligning to see this scrappy underdog, led by a guard in Doug Edert who has a porno stache, advance to the Elite Eight. This is what makes March so great.
I am ready to put my tuition on this electric Peacock team. This is a roster filled with Tri-State area ballersat are as gritty as it gets; I absolutely love it. HAMMER THE PEACOCKS.
