I always say that it’s very difficult to beat a team or person multiple times but, Creighton just proved it’s not that hard. For the third time this year, the Blue Jays beat the Huskies knocking them out of the Big East tournament.
Creighton won by three points tonight in a fast paced contest that was neck and neck until the last buzzer sounded. The Blue Jays were led by forward Damien Jefferson who had a double double with 14 points and 12 boards. Jefferson was accompanied by guard Marcus Zegarowski who tallied 13 points.
For the losing Huskies, they saw contribution from forward Adama Sanogo who recorded 13 points, forward Isaiah Whaley with 13 points, and guard James Bouknight who racked up 14 points and 8 rebounds.
This loss definitely hurts for Husky fans but, I believe they could still sneak into the tournament as a 10 or 11 seed but, winning the Big East could have put them as a 5 seed.
I still believe that Uconn is the most dangerous tournament team because if they get hot, not much can stop Dan Hurleys group of scrappers.
As for Creighton, they will face off against the 8 seed Georgetown who is having a Cinderella esque run. Patrick Ewings team could be dancing in a few weeks if they can pull off an upset run for the ages that would only fit in the Big East.
