In the words of Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill, “I used to pray for times like this”, and now, every college football fans prayers have been answered. EA Sports is rebooting NCAA Football for all next generation consoles. Since the last edition came out in 2013, there has been on going discussions on if they would bring it back or not and NCAA fans can now rejoice because, its back and hopefully better than ever.
While it’s uncertain on what will be in the game and what new features will be added, I wanted to give some suggestions for the cover athlete. Now, if it’s going to be a player from this past season it has to be Clemson quarterback, Trevor Lawrence. You could argue for Devonta Smith but, Lawrence is the most recognizable player in college.
If I am given the choice for any player since the last edition came out then there are definitely a few obvious selections. You could pick one of the elite Oklahoma quarterbacks that won a Heisman trophy whether its Baker Baker the Touchdown Maker or Kyler Murray.
Could we see another Michigan stud make the cover? Maybe, Jabrill Peppers? This guy was a Heisman finalist, the Nagurski-Woodson Defensive Player of the Year, Butkus-Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year, Rodgers-White Return Specialist of the Year, and a Unanimous All-American. What did this guy not do in college?
Or could Lamar Jackson make the cover of the new NCAA video game? He was one of the most exciting players I have ever seen play in college. He’s a Heisman trophy winner and actually made the Louisville Cardinals relevant in football for once.
In all reality, it will probably be a player that is going to be a stud in this upcoming season so who could that be? I would think maybe, UNC quarterback Sam Howell, Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler, or even Notre Dame running back Kyren Williams.
Regardless of who makes the cover, I am so excited to sit back on my couch with my friends to play NCAA Football like were 12 years old again. This feeling of nostalgia is unreal.
