My Vikings made an in house promotion by elevating Klint Kubiak to the offensive coordinator role. Kubiak has been the quarterbacks coach for the Vikings the past two seasons. Last season, Kirk Cousins threw for 35 touchdowns and 4265 yards this past season.
Klint takes over the role that his dad, Gary, held last season. Gary Kubiak retired from coaching last season after 25 years a head coach and coordinator. After the 2020 season, Head Coach Mike Zimmer said he wanted the offensive system to stay somewhat the same as last season and going from father to son will guarantee that.
Last season, the Vikings offensive scheme consisted of zone running and play action bootlegs. Now, with Klint Kubiak at coordinator, he may have a little say in who the Vikings draft and I hope they target and offensive lineman like Wyatt Davis, Alijah Vera-Tucker, or Sam Cosmi.
The vacancy at quarterback coach was just filled via another in house promotion. Andrew Janocko, last seasons receivers coach will get the chance to coach Kirk Cousins. Adam Thielen said “With Andrew, his guys are going to know their assignments and won’t make the same mistake twice.”
Im excited to see how the Vikings staff prepares for next season and give us the best shot to win the division.
