Kyle Van Noys Time In Miami Has Come To An Abrupt End
After only one season in Miami, the Dolphins will cut ties with the veteran linebacker.
In an odd turn of events, the Miami Dolphins have decided to release veteran linebacker Kyle Van Noy. Last offseason, Van Noy signed a 4 year, 51 million dollar deal with the Dolphins, and today, the Miami front office decided to terminate his contract.
When Van Noy found out about the news he said he was “disappointed” and “surprised”. This past season, he recorded 46 tackles, 6 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles on a team that just narrowly missed the playoffs. Now, what does this mean for Van Noy?
The Baltimore Ravens are listed as a favorite to sign Van Noy if Yannick Ngakoue and Matt Judon walk. He can fill one of their positions as an edge rusher and has the ability to drop into coverage. Another team in the running for Van Noy is the Denver Broncos. If they let Von Miller walk then they need someone to rush the passer on the opposite side of Bradley Chubb.
Could Van Noy end up back in New England? If he is willing to take a pay cut, this is a legit possibility. Bringing him back with Dont’a Hightower would be huge for the Patriots defense but, the likelihood of Van Noy taking a pay cut doesn’t feel like a strong possibility.
Van Noy was definitely a guy that I didn’t expect to hit the market but, with him getting released, he could bolster a teams pass rush and shake up the draft.
