Mass Maritime Keeps The Admirals Cup In Buzzards Bay After Picking Up Their First Win Of The Season Over Maine Maritime
The Buccaneers pick up their first win of the season in a rivalry game.
For the first time since 2019, Mass Maritime played their rivals up north, Maine Maritime in the Admirals Cup in lacrosse. AND THE ADMIRALS CUP IS STAYING IN BUZZARDS BAY. The Buccaneers beat the Mariners 19-3 in 2019, and yesterday Mass took Maine down 14-7.
The Buccaneers win was fueled by junior attack man, Mitchell Maida who slipped 5 goals past Mariners goalie Zach McCarthy. Maida also added 4 assists to the stat sheet in the win. Through 4 games this season, the Burlington native Maida has proven to be the teams best player as he’s notched 18 points, 8 goals on 25 shots.
Other contributions for the Buccaneers came from captain Spencer Jones who netted four goals. Senior Peter Raei, sophomore Gage Coolahan, sophomore Nick Lamattina, senior Dale Donovan, and junior Ryan Cameron all scored a goal each.
Freshman goalie Sean Lally played a great game as he allowed 7 goals, but saved 16 total shots. Freshman face off man Brian Rosher collected 8 ground balls to make it 29 on the season. HUGE contributions from young guys.
This win was vital for the Buccaneers as they began the season 0-3 with a loss to Wheaton and two very close defeats to Curry, 9-5, and Norwich, 10-9. This could be what Coach Bagbys squad needed to build momentum as they get into the meat of their season.
