Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, and Trey Lance did not have a long wait tonight as they were selected one, two, and three. This quarterback class is stacked and these three field generals are the highlights of it.
While many football fans were certain that Jacksonville was drafting Lawrence and that Wilson was going to end up in the Big Apple, we were unsure on who Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers would take.
Word out of the 49ers camp earlier this week was that Shanahan wanted Mac Jones, who is still on the bored, and management wanted Trey Lance. It looks like John Lynch and management put their foot down and said we want Trey.
I think everyone knew Lawrence was head to Duval when the Jags locked up the number one selection in December. He even started donating to Jacksonville area charities this past month.
Much like Lawrence, it seemed pretty certain after where Wilson would end up. After a great pro day last month, Saleh and the Jets really fell in love with the BYU product and made sure he’d be bleeding green.
As I write this, the Bears have just traded up to take Justin Fields which is an absolutely wild move but Matt Nagy is trying to save his ass with this pick.
It really is do or die time in the Windy City.
With all of that being said, one of the big five quarterbacks remains and it is Alabama’s Mac Jones. It looks like the top suitor for Mac is with Bill Belichick in New England, a scary sight.
