Patriots Dump Stidham For Nothing
New England trades backup QB for essentially nothing in return.
Well Patriots fans, the Stidham era is over in Foxborough. The 2019 4th round selection that never panned out got shipped from New England to Las Vegas this afternoon in a trade deal that included the Patriots giving up a 7th round pick in exchange for a 6th round selection.
Over his three year career, Stidham has passed for 270 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions through 8 career games.
The addition of Stidham marks the nineteenth former Patriot to join the Raiders squad. Former offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels got the head job with Las Vegas over the offseason and brought many familiar faces with him; Brandon Bolden, Chandler Jones, Jakob Johnson.
The main reason I think Stidham was dealt was because New England drafted Bailey Zappe in the 4th round of this years draft. Zappe threw for 5,967 yards and 62 touchdowns in 2021 for Western Kentucky.
The Patriots current quarterback room consists of Mac Jones, Brian Hoyer “the Destroyer”, Bailey Zappe, and D’Eriq King who will be used in a Taysom Hill esque roll.
