This top twenty is LOADED.
20. Meet Me In The City by Bruce Springsteen
“I'm singing through these power lines and I'm running on time and feeling alright”. Meet Me In The City has to be my favorite Bruce Springsteen song of all time because of how upbeat it is and the saxophone solo in the middle by the legend Clarence Clemons.
I also really enjoy when Bruce counts down at the beginning of some of his songs and he does it in this one which makes me like it even more.
19. Little Different/Obituary by Spose and KGFREEZE
Little Different/Obituary has the same rhythm and guitar intro as If It Makes You Happy by Sheryl Crow, another song that I love. You hear that same guitar in every chorus which is a beautiful touch by Spose and KGFREEZE.
To go with that great guitar, the meaning of the song that you should be different in your own unique way speaks to the heart. If you aren’t going to be yourself which is different, theres no sense in doing anything.
18. good 4 u by Olivia Rodrigo
Olivia Rodrigo is a rocker. She took over our ears this year with songs like drivers license and traitor, but none were more relevant than good 4 u. The song is a pop head banger with fabulous beat drops that make you want to scream/sing the song. This song is like a guilty pleasure jam for dudes because we all listen to it, you just may not fully admit it.
17. Sieve by Spose
After Spose dropped Get Rich or Die Ryan, I saw him live in Cambridge and one of the songs that was most electric that he performed was Sieve. It’s a lot like Self Help! where he channels his inner rockstar and creates a punk masterpiece.
16. Galway Girl by Ed Sheeran
“She played the fiddle in an Irish band, But she fell in love with an English man”. I heard Galway Girl for the first time this year at a Kentucky Derby party and was hooked. The fiddles mixed with accordion play make an eccentric Irish love song that Ed Sheeran absolutely kills.
15. Coming of Age by e-dubble
Coming of Age is a dark horse song that I’m not too shocked made the top fifteen, but it’s a nice thing to see. Lyrically e-dubble murders this futuristic sounding track. “Call me John Cusack. I will say anything” and “Your family stays modern when you play Al Bundy” are only the tip of the iceberg with this hit.
14. We All Got Lost by Spose
No surprise with this one making it. When I hear We All Got Lost, it’s like a sense of comfort knowing that other people are in the same position as I am where they are lost and may not know what their next step is in life. It’s the ultimate pick me up toon.
13. I’m Starving by Spose
“Ain't shit changed still bony no bowflex, Googling some titties while my girl won't give me throat sex, swag”. I’m Starving is one of the greatest examples of Sposes lyrical talent because he just spits absolute heat the whole time.
The heavy base beat with a clapping/thumping sound in the background make an unreal “freestyle” feel from the King of Maine. “I procreated so you know I need the money”.
12. Doses and Mimosas by Cherub
Doses and Mimosas is a top three party, darty, summer, and beach song to ever exist. I really don’t think any other song can put themself in that ranking because of how versatile Doses and Mimosas is.
Whenever the song comes on, you just instinctively have to sing “To all the bitch ass hoes who hate me the most, yeah I hate you too”. Cherub created a banger back in 2012 that has stood the test of time and will continue to do that.
11. Voices by J Spin
Voices has a very Machine Gun Kelly pop vibe to it. Less of the punk rock style, but the same upbeat thumping that bloody valentine has. This is by far my favorite J Spin song of all time because it’s a head bopper that has the ability to put you in the perfect mood.
