Two weeks in a row, LETS GO. I originally wanted to do Spose’s feature on the song Jumper but I literally could not find the lyrics for it so I decided to do another Spose feature. Home is a J Spin single that dropped in April of 2020 and is about just wanting to be back home where a person is comfortable.
J Spin has the first hook, first verse, and second hook before Spose starts. Spose begins the second verse with “I got a lotta love for my fans, Out in Minnesota, But my favorite tour date, Is when the tour is over, and I go back home” Spose has toured all across the country and even on different continents. He has much love for the fans that live thousands of miles from him but he loves when he’s able to get back to the Vacationland to see his family.
“'Cause that's the best venue that I've known, I think about it everywhere I've gone, In the middle of your city, I'm alone” Spose raps here that even on tour when he is performing for his fans that he feels lonely because he misses Home.
I really enjoy the next few lines because when I’m crossing the Piscataquis bridge for vacation it’s a lot different than Spose. Crossing the bridge is a sign that he’s just about Home. “And then I cross into New Hampshire, And I'm back up in this bitch, Windows down on the Piscataquis bridge”
“In the winter, man I used to want to dip like packing a lip, I would lace up my boots and return to my roots, Look I found the grass is greener, Where I built a dam with a farm town beaver” When Spose was younger he hated the brutal Maine winters and wanted to get the hell out of the state but realizes that being home where he grew up is the best place for him, where he is more comfortable.
The King of Maine caps of his verse with “Looking through the pictures on my phone, Man it's fucking crazy that my rap and singing, Got me to Cali, England, Georgia, Austin, Boston, Florida, but” Spose loves being Home but he also recognizes how crazy it is that he’s rapping all over the country and even across Europe.
Following Spose’s verse, J Spin goes right into the hook with “It don't matter where I go, I always come home, Gave all I had and more, I just got a little low, Some of you stuck around, But most of my friends aren't found, and it's probably my fault, Guess I got a little caught up, Juggling my life got tough, hey” Great song, 10/10. I love hearing Spose with other Maine guys like J Spin and Cam Groves.
On the next Spose Saturday, I’ll be writing about the fifth song from Spose’s 2020 album Nonperishable, Devils Game.
