Stop The Sewell Slander
Many analysts have claimed that Penei Sewell is not the prospect he is talked up to be and here is why they're wrong.
University of Oregon left tackle Penei Sewell is, in my opinion, the best prospect in this years draft and is the best offensive line prospect since Quenton Nelson out of Notre Dame. Whoever drafts Sewell gets an absolute monster that can make an immediate impact to protect their quarterback.
I recently watched Colin Cowherd and Daniel Jeremiah’s combined Mock Draft and they absolutely dragged Sewell’s name around. They had him getting picked at number eleven by the New York Giants but, I don’t see Sewell dropping out of the top five past the Cincinnati Bengals.
Cowherd said “He’s (Sewell) a pancake guy. Here’s what I worry about, the Pac 12 doesn’t have any good edge rushers so I don’t know how good he is cause he just swallowed everybody whole in the Pac 12…”. Sewell has been awarded the Outland Trophy, the Morris Trophy, and was an Unanimous All-American last season as a duck. This past season, he opted out due to Covid-19 and has had time to prepare for the draft.
Jeremiah claimed that Sewell has “shaky tape” which if you watch this tape, is completely untrue. While Cowherd maybe right that the Pac 12 lacks talent at the edge rusher position, Sewell never played down to his competition and absolutely dominated. The slander of this 6’6 athletic specimen needs to come to a halt because most of these bone head analysts don’t know what they’re talking about.
