Happy Super Bowl Sunday everyone. In the spirit of the big game, I thought I’d share my bets with you. Ride with them, fade them, or even just disregard them, I’m not expert.
The first bet I took was Cincinnati money line +170. While it was the first bet I picked, I am concerned because I don’t know if I’m blinded by how much I want the Bengals to win or if this is the right choice. I’m going to keep telling myself it’s the right bet though.
I really like Cincinnati as a team more than the Rams. I think that in the backfield at running back and quarterback Cincinnati has the upper hand along with their secondary anchored by Jessie Bates and Vonn Bell. I’m sticking with my gut feeling like I did all college season and riding the Bengals money line +170.
The next two are Joe Burrow related. I have the Bengals winning and I also have Joe Burrow winning the Super Bowl MVP +225. Unless Joe Mixon or Sam Hubbard really ball out, traditionally the winning quarterback gets the award. This feels like a safe bet and one I’m very confident about. Other than Jalen Ramsey, the Rams secondary isn’t anything overly impressive which will give Burrow more opportunities to post big numbers.
I feel even more confident about the MVP pick after seeing his pregame fit.
My other Burrow bet is Joe Burrow over 1.5 passing touchdowns -160. If I have him as the games MVP, he’ll have to do something to earn it and two or more passing touchdowns feels like a lock. I brought up the Rams secondary and I think he’ll hit Chase and Uzomah for scores early on.
Next on the docket is my anytime touchdown bet and I’m taking Rams receiver Odell Beckham Jr. at +130. He’s appearing in his first Super Bowl and has only scored once this postseason. Odell feels due for a big time touchdown and there is no better time than on the biggest stage.
I had two Joe Burrow bets, so I also went with two Matt Stafford picks. I’m riding with Matt Stafford over 23.5 completions at -135 and over 1.5 passing touchdowns -230. If he gets the matchup of Eli Apple on Cooper Kupp, Stafford can expose the corner many times over and I think this plays into both bets.
The Rams like running under routes to Tyler Higbee and slants to Beckham Jr. and Kupp so the completions will be there. They haven’t been a heavy run team and I don’t think that changes in the Super Bowl. This goes the same with over 1.5 passing touchdowns.
My final bet is that the winning coach gets orange Gatorade dumped on him at +200. Again, more of a gut feeling along with the aspect of an orange team playing today. I think purple and red are out of the picture along with green and I was stuck between clear, orange, and blue. I flipped a coin twice and it told me orange so that’s how we’re betting. No math or science to it, just riding orange.
