Ten Best Remaining Players On Day Two
With how deep this draft class is, there are still tons of great players that are going to get drafted on day two.
I have never witnessed a draft class this deep at just about every position so it’s no surprise that on day two there are still a bunch of big time guys available. Here are my ten best remaining draft prospects.
1. Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Notre Dame Linebacker: I am shocked that JOK, was not taken in the first round. He has speed and physicality but lacks in size. I really thought Cleveland or Jacksonville would scoop him up but, it just didn’t happen.
I’m not too sure why he dropped out of the first but it may have something to do with his size. I could see the Eagles picking him up in the early second round.
2. Trevon Moehrig, TCU Safety: Much like JOK, I was certain that Cleveland or Jacksonville would have selected Moehrig. He seemed like a great fit with either squads. Moehrig is the best safety in the draft and graded extremely high on the PFF scale.
I believe the Jaguars could take him at #33 or the Panthers at #39 to put along side last years rookie sensation, Jeremy Chinn.
3. Elijah Moore, Ole Miss Wide Receiver: There were lots of spots that I thought Elijah Moore would land last night. I thought that the Saints, Packer, or Ravens would swoop in and draft him on the back end of the first round.
Moore is a crafty route runner and was super effective at Ole Miss when they used him on jet sweeps or even on swing routes out of the backfield. I think that the Lions try to take Moore at pick #41.
4. Azeez Ojulari, Georgia Edge: Much like Moore, I thought Ojulari would find a new home at the end of the first round in either Baltimore or Tampa Bay but that didn’t happen. I was a little shocked when Jayson Oweh from Penn State got drafted over him because Oweh didn’t record a sack last season.
Keep an eye out on if either the New York Giants at #42 or the Falcons at #35 take Ojulari off the board. While he may have had to wait last night, I don’t believe he’ll have a long wait tonight.
5. Teven Jenkins, Oklahoma State Offensive Tackle: Teven Jenkins plays with an extreme amount of piss and vinegar and has that “nasty” mentality. I really thought a team like Indianapolis or Washington would take him in the middle of the first.
With Jenkins dropping into the second, I think that Miami could draft him at #36 or maybe the Bengals will try to protect Joe Burrow and take Jenkins at pick #38.
6. Javonte Williams, North Carolina Running Back: Williams could be higher on this list but I don’t overvalue a running back with how expandable a back is. Williams is the third best of a very deep running back class but it feels like a drastic drop off between Harris and Etienne to Williams.
Williams would be a great fit in Buffalo if the Bills are able to snatch him up at pick #61 towards the end of the second round.
7. Christian Barmore, Alabama Defensive Tackle: One man remains in the green room in Cleveland and his name is Christian Barmore. Barmore was not taken in the first round last night, if he had been it would have broken the record for first round picks from one college in a draft.
Like JOK or Moehrig, I don’t think that Barmore is going to have a long wait tonight. I could picture Denver at #40 or Dallas at #44 drafting the quick and physical nose tackle.
8. Liam Eichenberg, Notre Dame Offensive Tackle: I am somewhat yet not super surprised that Eichenberg fell out of the first round. I think that his pass protection hurt him overall but will get taken in the middle of the second round.
I believe Eichenberg will be playing in the AFC South next season if the Titans take him at #53 or if the Colts go after him one pick later at #54.
9. Nick Bolton, Missouri Linebacker: Linebacker is the thinnest position in the draft and Bolton is one of the better tacklers in this draft. Bolton plays fast and physical and has very little fear to stick their nose into a pile.
Bolton is like Eichenberg and will be a mid second round player. I could see the Cardinals at #49 or even the Seahawks at #56. He’ll be a great addition to any squad.
10. Carlos “Boogie” Basham, Wake Forest Edge: A very underrated pass rusher that has first round potential but with the edge position being so stacked, he fell into the second round. Boogie Basham is fast, long, and can bend the edge like Jaelan Phillips.
While Basham has lots of talent, don’t be surprised to see him drop to the end of the second to Green Bay at #62, Tampa Bay at #64, or even Minnesota at #66 in the third round.
Honorable Mention: Levi Onwuzurike (Washington DT), Jalen Mayfield (Michigan OT), Dillon Radunz (NDSU OT), Asante Samuel Jr. (FSU CB), Landon Dickerson (Alabama C), Pat Freiermuth (Penn State TE), Terrace Marshall Jr. (LSU WR), Jevon Holland (Oregon S), Kellen Mond (Texas A&M QB), Sam Cosmi (Texas OT), Tyson Campbell (Georgia CB)
