Yesterday for day six I covered an absolutely BOMB late night drive song, Hallucinogenics by Matt Maeson. Now today we’re really switching gears to an unreal hip hop song that just scratches an itch in your brain when you hear it.
MF DOOM is probably one of hip hops most outstanding talents that is pretty unknown and he created one of the GREATEST hip hop songs ever in Rapp Snitch Knishes; and Rapp Snitch Knishes is the day seven song.
Rapp Snitch Knishes has a beautiful beat that makes you feel like you’re flying when you listen in your car or like you’re the most important person alive when you bump it in your headphones. The first day I heard it recently was when I was walking across campus to afternoon lift and it was sunny and 60 degrees out. Nothing and no one could bother me in that three minute span of listening to Rapp Snitch Knishes.
The beat reminds me of a hip hop version of Down Under by Men At Work, another banger. The two share a similar keyboard beat that scientifically boosts your serotonin making it an unreal summer song.
Coupling with the electric beat is a catchy chorus that you can learn on the fly and when you sing along, you feel kind of gangster. “Rap snitches, telling all their business, Sit in the court and be their own star witness, Do you see the perpetrator? Yeah, I'm right here, Fuck around, get the whole label sent up for years, uh, Rap snitches, telling all their business, Sit in the court and be their own star witness, Do you see the perpetrator? Yeah, I'm right here, Fuck around, get the whole label sent up for years”.
The final reason MF DOOMS masterpiece makes this list is a line in the second verse about another song that’ll make this countdown in the future. “True, there's rules to this shit, fools dare care, Everybody wanna rule the world with tears for fear”. A TEARS FOR FEARS REFERENCE IN A GOATED HIP SONG, WHAT!
