And we’re past the first ten songs; only ninety more to go until it’s summer time and I’m blasting this playlist. Yesterday I covered a tremendous country banger for the summer by Chris Janson, and today for day eleven I’ll be going over the Charlie Puth song, Light Switch.
After my first listen of Light Switch, I immediately thought that it sounds like something the Weekend would drop and I loved it. The Weekend has a couple songs that could be on this playlist and if it weren’t for this hit from Puth stealing his thunder, we’d have Blinding Lights or The Hills on here earlier.
When I hear Light Switch I get the feeling of driving on a warm summer night with the windows down and this blaring while I sing/scream “You turn me on like a light switch, When you're movin' your body around and around”. It’s a poppy feel, one that I’m surprised I enjoy so much but it’s just so sweet to my ears.
The other spot I envision Light Switch playing at this summer is going to be towards the end of my semester. With the weather turning and more and more nice days, my friends and I have been talking about our plans on the weekends and one that we’ve been bringing up is playing a lot more Spike Ball. While I’m not really good at the game, this song will hit different when I’m diving bare footed on the turf for a ball and eventually missing it.
Light Switch radiates dancing energy that makes me want to just get active with my buddies and that’s what summer is all about.
