On day four we introduced an awesome alternative rock song by The Backseat Lovers. Now we’re shifting gears to the hip hop genre with a song by the Chicago duo, the Palmer Squares.
Everyday is like Mood, a song I covered prior, that fits the wake up vibe, but in a different scenario. You play Mood when you have plans in the afternoon or night and you want to kickoff the day with good energy; Everyday is like a hangover cure song.
Over my few years in college, I’ve woken up hungover on various couches, floors, and chairs with a raging headache and a craving for a sausage egg and cheese, and usually not in the mood for music, but Everyday speaks to the booze drenched soul.
“My alarm is roarin', But I ain't trynna start my morning yet (Come on, man)
(Every day), I refuse to awaken so I press snooze, Then I move back under the blanket”. When the morning light shines through dorm room blinds and hits you right in the face, all you want to do is roll back over and pull the blanket up.
Hangovers suck, but summer hangovers are different. You wake up and somehow you and all your boys wake up at the same time. You roll over from whatever surface you slept on and simultaneously you guys get the idea to find a local breakfast spot. University of Rhode Island, Circa 2021 post Thomas Rhett.
After you guys Google and find the spot that you’re going to eat at, you pack into the car and turn on Everyday. I gets the mood up a little, because you’re relating to the song, but are also semi defeated from a night where you guys all struggled to score and drowned it out with Bud Light and Smirnoff.
Everyday is undoubtedly a top one hundred summer song for the summer of 2022.
