The 2022 NFL OJ Simpson Man Of The Year Award Semifinalists.
A new award that I believe the league should adopt and who this years semifinalists are.
The National Football League is filled with players that have a rap sheet that’s more impressive than their stat line and while that shouldn’t be celebrated, the scumbags of the league should be held more accountable. I am proposing that the league adds the OJ Simpson Man Of The Year Award.
OJ famously chopped off Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldmans head (allegedly). He was (somehow) found not guilty of these charges, but lost the case in civil court and was forced to pay 33.5 million dollars to the families for wrongful deaths.
Later in life in 2007, the Juice was arrested and charged in Las Vegas for armed robbery and kidnapping. He was given thirty three years with a minimum of nine with parole after being convicted in 2008. After nine years in Lovelock Corrections, the Juice was loose.
The scumbag former Bills back was out free tweeting about fantasy football and golf.
Well, in Simpsons “honor”, I think the league should have an award for these scumbags that is voted on by the people. As of right now, those people are my Twitter and Instagram followers.
This award will goto the top dirt bag in the league that has exuded terrible qualities and committed heinous actions. Past winners of the award would include Ben Roethlisberger, Rae Carruth, Mike Vick, Donte Stallworth, Ray Rice, and Aaron Hernandez.
On side A of the bracket, the first semifinalist is former Raiders wideout, Henry Ruggs III. The second year pass catcher out of Alabama played in seven games in 2021 where he caught 24 balls on 36 targets for 2 touchdowns and 469 yards.
And he also killed a woman and her dog because he’s a reckless asshole that decided to drive while he was hammered.
Ruggs III was driving at 156 miles per hour at around 3:40 in the morning on November 2nd when he slammed into the SUV of twenty three year old Tina Tintor who was in the car along with her three year old golden retriever Max.
Tintors SUV burst in flames, and after an autopsy report, it was announced that Tintor burned to death as she wasn’t able to escape the vehicle.
If driving liked a madman wasn’t bad enough, Ruggs III was also drunk. His BAC was two times the legal limit at the time of the accident. Oh, he also had a loaded gun in the car.
Ruggs III is being charged in Nevada with two felony counts of driving under the influence, two felony counts of reckless driving and a misdemeanor gun charge. In the state of Nevada, reckless driving resulting in death or physical injury is a felony.
According to a New York Time article written by Ben Shpigel in November, each DUI is punishable by two to twenty years with fines reaching a maximum of five thousand dollars. In addition, each reckless driving count carries a penalty of one to six years in prison with fines reaching a maximum of five thousand dollars.
Personally, Ruggs III has my vote for the OJ Simpson Man Of The Year Award. What a scumbag.
Going against Ruggs III on side A we have a guy who didn’t compete in any games this season, but is still a part of the Texans organization. I of course am talking about Clemson alum, quarterback Deshaun Watson.
In April and May of 2021, Watson was accused of twenty two cases of assault and misconduct along with ten other criminal complaints.
The story with Watson is he is being accused by twenty two women of assault in a civil lawsuits that has been filed in Harris County, Texas. While these twenty two assault charges have lots of similarities, only two of the cases involve sexual assault.
In each case, Watson is accused of exposing himself and moving himself in ways that the massage therapists had to touch his genitals. In the two sexual assault cases, Watson is said to have groped the women’s vaginas and butts while pressuring them to perform oral sex.
The allegations span over a whole year from March 2020 to March 2021.
The reason I can’t vote for Watson over Ruggs III though is, while Watsons actions are heinous, he has not been charged yet. There are many examples in history where people have made up sexual assault allegations. The Shawn Oakman case is one of the best examples.
On the contrary, twenty two accusers is an absurd amount and I don’t think he’ll get out this mess unscathed. If these allegations are true, Watson is a terrible guy and should be in contention for the OJ Simpson Man Of The Year Award.
On side B of the bracket we have former Buccaneers pass catcher Antonio Brown.
Now if this was a year or two earlier, I’d pick Brown as the guy to win this award because of his sexual assault allegations, domestic abuse incidents, and burglary charges, but theres a reason he’s a semifinalist.
Brown was suspended three games this season for using a fake vaccine card to get out of getting the Covid-19 vaccine. Now personally, I don’t care if you’re vaccinated or not, but using the fake vaccine card is a scum move.
In addition to this, Brown seemed to have his attitude in check this year after multiple blow ups in 2020, but the diva in Brown broke through in this past weekends game against the Jets.
He stripped off his pads and jersey, threw them on the sideline, then shuffled across the Met Life end zone mid play while waving to fans. He exited the stadium, caught an Uber, and dipped.
That same day, Bucs head coach Bruce Arians announced that Brown was no longer a Buccaneer.
Even OJ wasn’t a fan of Browns on field actions. OJ would have never acted like this on the field. I mean I think he murdered two people, but he wouldn’t have stripped his pads off on the field.
This year wasn’t as severe as the past few for Brown, but he still deserves to be a finalist for the OJ Simpson Man Of The Year Award.
To square off with Antonio Brown on side B of the bracket is ex Raiders head coach Jon Gruden. It is pretty wild that three former Raiders are on this list.
Gruden was the head coach of the Raiders from 2018 to 2021. He time in the silver and black came to an end this year when emails from between 2011 and 2018 were brought to light, and boy did Gruden not come across great.
In one email, he stated that Goodell shouldn't have pressured the Rams to draft "queers", referring to the Rams selecting Michael Sam in the 2014 NFL Draft. In another he talked about NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith where he said “Dumboriss Smith has lips the size of Michellin tires”.
The only part of this whole debacle that makes him seem likable is that he called Goodell a “clueless anti football pussy”.
Gruden is currently attempting to sue the NFL for character assassination because he believes the emails were leaked in an effort to cost him his job. Whether that’s true or not, Gruden earns a spot as a semifinalist for the OJ Simpson Man Of The Year Award.
A few guys that missed the cut:
Former Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer
Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers
Washington Football Team owner Daniel Snyder
