The Buccaneers Hypocrisy Is Rich
Tampa Bay removed Jon Gruden from their Ring Of Honor yet keep Warren Sapp in.
Unless you live under a rock, you are well aware of what has been happening with former Buccaneers and Raiders head coach Jon Gruden. After a thread of emails filled with racist and homophobic rhetoric leaked, Gruden resigned as head coach of the Raiders.
Now in no way am I defending the things that Gruden said in these emails, but holy cow there is massive hypocrisy coming from the Buccaneers organization.
A little context, in some of the emails written, Gruden referred to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell as a clueless antifootball pussy. Fair.
Gruden also called Goodell a fa—ot in the same email.
In a separate email regarding the Rams drafting Michael Sam in 2014, he expressed his displeasure in the NFL “pressuring” Jeff Fisher into drafting “queers”.
Another email leaked in which he said that DeMaurice Smith, Executive Director of the NFLPA, had “lips the size of Michelin tires”. In another email, Gruden used the same trope saying “Dumboriss Smith has lips the size of Michelin tires.”
So now that’s on the table. Heinous and terrible things for anyone to say about a person and if you really think about it, Gruden needed to resign. It would be tough for him to go back into a locker room with the first openly gay player and black players and try to demand respect.
With the emails coming out, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers decided to remove their former Super Bowl winning head coach from their Ring of Honor. This is absurd seeing that the Buccaneers are fine with Warren Sapp being in their Ring of Honor.
Warren Sapp was arrested and charged in 2010 for domestic battery and had his appearance on the NFL Network canceled due to it.
That wasn’t Sapps first run in with the law. In 2015, Sapp was arrested and charged for suspicion of soliciting a prostitute and assault. His contract with the NFL Network was later terminated.
Sapp lost his job and committed worse acts than Gruden did so why was he not booted from the Buccaneers Ring of Honor?
Cancel culture and a hideous double standard are beginning to run the world and a slippery slope of what you can and can’t say is upon us.
Hypocrisy defined: NFL Coach resigns for comments. SUPER BOWL halftime show performed by rappers that in one song from one artist selected would make Gruden's comments seem like cotton candy. Typical BS cancel culture!
