The Colts Are Ready To Contend
Indianapolis acquired quarterback Carson Wentz from the Eagles today.
We all knew it was going to happen, we just didn’t know when or to who but, Carson Wentz is no longer the quarterback in Philadelphia. He was traded to the Colts this morning in exchange for a third round selection this season and a conditional second round pick next season.
Wentz has a whole new repertoire of weapons that he didn’t really have in Philly. He has Michael Pittman Jr. out wide with T.Y Hilton, and if Hilton can stay healthy, he could return to his old form. At tight end, he has a great athlete in Trey Burton and a possible three headed monster in the backfield with Marlon Mack, Jonathan Taylor, and Nyheim Hines.
There really aren’t any losers in this trade because, the Eagles have their guy for the future in Jalen Hurts and Indianapolis needed a new guy at the helm of their offense after Rivers retired. Wentz brings a different dimension to the quarterback position that Rivers did not offer, and that is solid mobility.
Now, Indiana is a state where 65% of their residents are obese. You may wonder why this is relevant but, in 2011, Wentz posted on Facebook three words, “no fat chicks”. I don’t think this will be a huge issue for Wentz seeing that he is married to Madison Oberg but, I would keep an eye out on if his performance plummets because of this.
Wentz gets the fresh start that he deserves with a talented roster and the Eagles get back a decent return on a guy that wasn’t going to play next season so, this is a rare win-win trade.
