The Double Edge Sword Of The Huskies Extensions

The Uconn Huskies just extended mens basketball coach Dan Hurley and head football coach Randy Edsall, and while I love the extension of Hurley, I hate that Uconn is bringing Edsall back.
I am still very bitter towards the way in which Edsall left Uconn after the 2011 Fiesta Bowl loss to Oklahoma. After Uconn was dominated 48-20 by the Sooners, Edsall didn’t even fly back with the team, he flew directly to Maryland and took the job as the Terps head coach.
Edsall also called the Maryland job “his dream job” which really put a hair across my ass.
In 2015, Maryland fired Edsall and Uconn rehired him in 2017. Since then, his record as the Huskies head coach is 6-30. I mean, one of his incentives in 2018 was to not give up 50 points in a game and he would rarely cash in on that. Edsall is not the guy that will bring Uconn back to glory.
On the hardwood, I love the two year extension of Dan Hurley. His fiery demeanor and the way he controls a team is immaculate. Since being hired in 2018, Hurley is 48-35 and just locked up the three seed in the Big East tournament.
I am so excited about the future of mens basketball in Storrs, CT and I am not super confident in the football team. If Edsalls squad continues to trend downwards, don’t be surprised if the program folds or drops to D1-AA.
