Behind 21 points from James Bouknight, the Uconn Huskies defeated the Georgetown Hoyas 98-82 at the Gampel Pavilion to end the season on a four game winning streak. Dan Hurleys scrappy crew of players will be the three seed in the Big East Tournament and if they have a good showing could earn a bid to the National Tournament.
The Huskies exploded on offense for 51 in the first half and 47 in the second. Outside of Bouknight, Uconn was aided by Sanogos double double, 15 points from Gaffney, and 11 from Polley, Whaley, and Martin.
For the Hoyas, who went 0-2 against the Huskies this year, they were led by Jahvon Blair who dropped 22 points off the bench and center Qudus Webb had 16 points and 7 rebounds. The Hoyas are the eight seed in the Big East and will square off against Seton Hall.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, watch out for the Huskies in the tournament. They are historically a squad that gets hot around March so as a fan I am fired up about these next few weeks.
