Two former Jaguars quarterbacks and one ex-Jaguar running back who was scorned by management have found their way to a Super Bowl win. Byron Leftwich, Blaine Gabbert, and Leonard Fournette are all former Jaguars that went 200 miles south to Tampa and fell right into a ring.
Leftwich was drafted by the Jaguars in 2003 with the 7th overall pick out of Marshall but, only spent 3 seasons in Jacksonville. He would go onto play until 2012 with Atlanta, Pittsburgh, and Tampa Bay. Today, he is the offensive coordinator for the Super Bowl champion Buccaneers that scored 31 against Kansas City.
Possibly the drippiest back up quarterback in the league was once a Jaguar. In 2011, the Jags took Blaine Gabbert 10th overall out of Missouri, and while he may not have worked out in Jacksonville, it seems like he has found a cushy spot as Tom Brady’s backup.
The last key component of the Buccaneers offense that came from Jacksonville was the 4th overall pick in 2017, Leonard Fournette, who now goes by Playoff Lenny. Down the stretch in the playoffs, Fournette played outstanding and was huge reason why Tampa Bay won the Super Bowl because, teams had to account for the run while trying to cover 4 big time weapons in the pass game.
Bruce Arians has a new address to send Christmas cards to and its 1 TIAA Bank Field Drive Jacksonville, Florida. Without Byron Leftwich, Leonard Fournette, and maybe Blaine Gabbert, the Buccaneers wouldn’t have won the Super Bowl.
