The Jaguars Hire Former Eagles Head Coach Doug Pederson For The Same Position
The Meyer era ended pretty quickly in Duval, now it's the Pederson era.
Former Super Bowl winning head coach Doug Pederson who was fired from the Eagles in 2021 following the 2020 NFL season has been hired as the new Jaguars head coach after the Urban Meyer experiment failed.
Pederson brings a 42-37-1 record as a coach and a 4-2 post season record to a dismal Jaguars squad that has a boat load of young talent on the roster. With a young gun quarterback and athletic weapons out wide coupled with an underrated defense, Pederson could turn this Duval dumpster fire around.
When it comes to the Jaguars, they can only go up. The team was littered with bad apples last season, led by Urban Meyer who would belittle assistant coaches and treated his players less than. And too top it all off, Meyer brought Tim Tebow in to play tight end which added another distraction.
The AFC South isn’t a great division. The Colts blew a playoff spot this season after losing to Jacksonville and Tennessee was a mediocre one seed. The AFC South is ripe for someone to take over and actually control the division.
Jacksonville has a ton of collateral with the number one two pick in the draft and just over seventy million dollars in cap space. They took the first step in the right direction by hiring Pederson, now it’s time to make a splash in free agency and the draft.
