The Pouncey Bros Retire
Two of the leagues top interior offensive linemen of the past decade are walking away from the game.
Mike and Maurkice Pouncey have been in lock step the majority of their lives. They both went to the University of Florida and played interior o-line, they both got drafted in the first round, and now, the two of them are walking away from the game of football. Football loses two enforcers on the field and guys that were a quarterbacks best friend.
Mike was drafted in 2011 with the 15th overall selection by the Miami Dolphins where he spent the bulk of his career. In 2018, Mike signed a 2 year, 15 million dollar deal with the Chargers. In his career he started all 114 games he played and made it to 4 Pro Bowls.
For Maurkice, many people, including myself would say he’s the better brother. He was drafted 18th overall by Pittsburgh in 2010 and spent his whole career in the Steel City. He started all 134 games he ever played while protecting future Hall of Famer, Ben Roethlisberger. He’s a 9 time Pro Bowler, 3 time All Pro first team, 2 time All Pro second team, and was on the 2010’s All Decade Team. Maurkice is 100% a Hall of Famer. Maybe not a first ballot guy but, he will find his way to Canton.
These brothers accomplished a lot in their careers and left a mark on the game to always protect your teammates, especially your quarterback.
