The Raiders Give "Mad" Maxx Crosby A Hefty Extension Following A Pro Bowl Season
Mad Maxx is going to be in Las Vegas for a little longer.
According to Adam Schefter, the Las Vegas Raiders have given pass rusher Maxx Crosby a 4 year, 98.98 million dollar extension with 95 million coming in new money and 53 million guaranteed. One of my favorite players in the league is finally getting the recognition he deserves.
I was one of few people screaming into the abyss in 2019 that Crosby should have won Defensive Rookie of the Year over Nick Bosa. Both played in 16 games and Crosby 1 more sack than Bosa, the same amount of tackles, and 2 more fumble recoveries. But all of that is beside the point.
This past season, Crosby tallied 56 total tackles, 8 sacks, and 7 pass deflections en route to his first Pro Bowl appearance and the being named to the Second Team All Pro team.
Today was a huge day for Crosby in more than one way. A, obviously because he got a fat extension from the team that drafted him in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Outside of Derek Carr and Darren Waller when both are healthy, Crosby is the Raiders most important player. He elevates every player on the defensive line and brings so much juice to the Raiders when needed.
The other important part of today for Crosby is because today marks two years sober for the Eastern Michigan alum.
Crosby struggled with partying and drinking throughout high school and college and he stated that following his rookie season “my life became unmanageable”. This is a huge milestone for Crosby.
I can’t wait to see the bow and arrow slinging, quarterback killer on the field in 2022 on the opposite side of Yannick Ngakoue. Life will be very difficult for Russell Wilson, Justin Herbert, and Patrick Mahomes next year and I am all for it.
