Here is why Robert Morris University shouldn’t cut mens and women's hockey.

Well, we’re seeing another group of division one athletes get screwed over by the suits that run the athletic department. Robert Morris University is set to cut mens and women’s ice hockey but, many RMU students believe that their resume should keep the teams afloat.

An Instagram post made by USA Women’s Hockey National Team goalie Brianne McLaughlin shows off the accomplishments and achievements of the two Colonials hockey teams.

On the ice, the two teams have combined for six regular season championships, four tournament championships, and three NCAA tournament appearances. They’ve also accounted for ten plus wins against top ten opponents and have put eighty two plus players in the pros, two NHL referees, and two Olympic athletes.

In the classroom last year, the two teams had a 3.7 GPA and amassed over fifteen thousand hours of community service. These two programs have no business being canceled and if the hockey community and RMU students and athletes can put the pressure on administration, then we could see a Stanford or William and Mary situation where the decision is reversed before it gets cut.
